One of my past instructors, Will Weston, used to say (in reference to getting work): “Always play to your strengths… then work on your weakness when nobody is looking.” When it comes to illustration work, I try always to do just that, play to my strengths. When I get the opportunity to participate in an art show, I like to do the things I don’t get the freedom to do with freelance, like paint!! Although the fundamentals of painting were thoroughly taught to me while in school, it is an area that I feel will always be an experiment with varying levels of success. Here are my two paintings that I submitted celebrating the 10 years of Uglydoll’s Ice Bat:
