I used to have this Australian roommate who was about 10 years older than me. We both worked at the Cheesecake Factory in Brentwood CA. He had all these friends that had “real” careers, a lawyer, a detective, an accountant, etc., and they were all friends. I was always baffled by the diversity of his friend’s occupations and didn’t understand how my roommate had made all of these friendships. Well duh! At one point years before, they all worked at the Cheesecake Factory. I didn’t realize this until it happened to me. After working at that communist factory for a decade (yes, a DECADE!) I have made a number of friends that have gone on to other “real” careers. Kenny for example is a lawyer, a lawyer getting married to Norah. They were kind enough to let me design a silkscreened wedding “Save the Date”. They wanted to get their furry kids in it too. We were all very happy with the result.
